One of the most promising newcomers to the Finnish jazz scene will take to the stage at Kino Tapiola on Thursday. The music of Mopo draws from several sources including jazz, seventies punk and Finnish nature. When describing its music the band has the following to say: “Mopo is a mix of humour, pace, melancholy, gloom, pranks and anarchy.” The potential of Mopo was recognized at the Young Nordic Jazz Comets group contest, where they were chosen to represent Finland in a Nordic collaboration in the 2011 finals.
