Daniel Garcia Trio

Vibrant contemporary jazz with a flamenco tinge, by one of the main piano voices of the new Spanish jazz generation, who will premiere his band in Finland.

Daniel García has become one of the most original and influential voices of the new generation of Spanish Jazz. The trio is completed by two of the most creative and forward thinking musicians is Spanish jazz scene, the cubans Reinier “El Negrón” and Michael Olivera.

Daniel García was born in Salamanca, Spain. As a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston he was taught by Grammy-winning Panamanian jazz pianist Danilo Pérez. Pérez became a mentor for García and had a decisive influence on his musical development.

For his album Travesuras he dug deep into the music of his native country and combined it with the vocabulary of the modern jazz trio, with outstanding energy and virtuosity. The result is an expressive personal style in which rhythmic intensity go hand in hand with melodic wealth and harmonic finesse.

With his last trio album, Vía de la Plata (ACT, 2021), the group reaches high peaks of compositional and creative expression, establishing as one of the most in demand and solid trios in European Jazz. With special guests as Lebanese trumpet player star Ibrahim Maalouf, Israeli clarinetist Anat Cohen and flamenco guitar maestro Gerardo Núñez, the album represents a milestone in Spanish Jazz, while dozens of rave press reviews all over the world have made this album a word-of-mouth phenomena.
